Alongside delivering Nature Base sessions, I work with organisations to develop nature-based spaces and programmes that support children's development, wellbeing and connection.
My work brings together research-informed practice, community insight and multidisciplinary expertise to help shape projects from early ideas through to delivery.

CORONATION PARK – NATURE PLAY CO-DESIGN
Government of Jersey | Infrastructure & Environment
Overview
A co-designed nature play space developed as part of the Coronation Park extension, shaped through public consultation and a multi-stakeholder co-design process. The project brought together community voice, practitioner expertise and Government infrastructure teams to inform the development of an inclusive, nature-based play environment.
The design process responded directly to extensive public consultation with children, families and local communities, ensuring that lived experience informed spatial planning and design direction.
My Role
Played a leading role in stakeholder engagement, multidisciplinary co-design and project development for the Coronation Park Nature Play Extension.
Brought together and facilitated a cross-sector working group comprising Government Infrastructure & Environment officers, landscape designers, engineers, arboricultural, horticultural and environmental specialists, accessibility advisers and practitioners in child development, Forest School, therapeutic outdoor practice and community wellbeing.
Led the development of the design vision, integrating professional expertise, stakeholder collaboration, child consultation and community engagement to shape the evolving landscape.
Translated research-informed principles, evidence-based practice, professional observation and practical operational experience into a natural play landscape that supports play, creativity, wellbeing, inclusion and nature connection.
Embedded opportunities for physical development, imaginative play, risk-benefit, accessibility, biodiversity and therapeutic experiences throughout the landscape, ensuring the design balanced multiple developmental, environmental and operational objectives.
Integrated feedback from children, families, schools, community organisations and accessibility partners into the design process, ensuring local voices meaningfully influenced the final scheme.
Worked collaboratively with Government officers, engineers and delivery teams throughout design development and implementation to translate community aspirations into practical, sustainable and deliverable public realm outcomes.
Supported the project from early concept through design development and delivery, helping turn a shared community vision into a significant new nature-based play space for Jersey.
Impact
Worked collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary, research-informed and evidence-informed process to develop a natural play landscape integrating children’s movement, imaginative play, nature connection, wellbeing, accessibility and biodiversity.
Community consultation directly influenced the landscape design, ensuring children’s ideas, family experiences and local knowledge were meaningfully reflected in the final scheme.
Helped bring together Government, practitioners, environmental specialists and community organisations to support a genuinely collaborative approach to public-space design.
Contributed to embedding inclusive design principles throughout the project, supporting children and families of differing ages, abilities and needs to access and enjoy the space together.
Helped shape a flexible natural landscape where opportunities for movement, play, challenge and learning are embedded throughout the environment, supporting children’s physical development, creativity, sensory exploration, social interaction and wellbeing.
Supported the development of a natural play environment that complements the wider recreational offer within Coronation Park rather than replicating conventional playground equipment
Demonstrated how stakeholder engagement, professional expertise, evidence-informed practice and community insight can be translated collaboratively into practical, deliverable public infrastructure.
Co-created a landscape designed to evolve over time, allowing future phases and community-led enhancements to respond to ongoing observation, learning and patterns of use.
ANDIUM HOMES – COMMUNITY CONNECTOR PROGRAMME
Housing & Community Engagement Jersey
Overview
A place-based community engagement programme delivered across housing estates in partnership with Andium Homes, Jersey’s social housing provider. The programme was designed to strengthen community relationships, increase participation, and improve wellbeing outcomes through ongoing, trust-based engagement.
The work focused on building consistent, relational presence within estate communities, using nature-based play and pop-up engagement as a mechanism for participation, dialogue and community connection.
My Role
Designed and delivered a community engagement and “community connector” programme across housing estates.
Developed and facilitated pop-up nature play and engagement sessions within estate settings.
Built relationships with residents, families and local stakeholders to support participation, trust and connection.
Secured grant funding to pilot and develop community engagement approaches within estate environments.
Acted as lead facilitator for on-site engagement activity, adapting delivery to the needs, strengths and context of individual communities.
Supported Andium Homes in developing more responsive, relational approaches to community engagement.
Following the initial programme development and delivery, continued to work with Andium Homes as a commissioned service provider, delivering community engagement and nature-based sessions across estates.
Impact
Increased opportunities for community engagement and participation across multiple housing estates.
Helped support relationships between residents and the housing provider through consistent, trust-based and relational engagement.
Supported a more proactive, family-centred approach to community engagement by creating welcoming opportunities for children and families to play, connect and build relationships within their own neighbourhoods.
Contributed to the development of ongoing community engagement approaches within Andium Homes.
Demonstrated the value of nature-based, relational engagement within estate settings, leading to continued commissioning of Nature Base as a delivery partner.
NATURE CONNECTION FILM PROJECT
JT Community Giving | Media & Community Engagement
Overview
A JT Community Giving–sponsored project initiated and led by Nature Base in collaboration with Jack Searson Films, exploring the role of nature connection in supporting well-being across Jersey.
The aim of the project was to explain what nature connection is and demonstrate how Islanders can engage with it in everyday life. The film brought together local practitioners and community voices to communicate the benefits of nature-based experiences for mental health, well-being and connection across all ages.
The project translated professional practice and lived experience into accessible storytelling, highlighting how nature supports wellbeing, creativity and emotional health.
My Role
Initiated and led the vision for the project, developing the concept and overall narrative direction
Project led and coordinated a JT Community Giving–funded nature connection film initiative
Curated and coordinated a network of local practitioners contributing to the project
Selected and organised filming locations in collaboration with practitioners and production team
Coordinated collaboration with Jack Searson Films to shape narrative, filming and production
Facilitated practitioner involvement to ensure a range of perspectives and expertise were represented
Ensured the voices, expertise and lived practice of practitioners from across the Island were central to the project and meaningfully represented within the final film.
Impact
Produced a publicly accessible film introducing nature connection and highlighting practical ways Islanders can engage with nature in everyday life.
Increased visibility of nature-based wellbeing approaches for adults, children and young people.
Strengthened connections between practitioners from different sectors and created opportunities for collaborative working.
Brought together practitioner expertise, local knowledge and creative media to communicate nature connection in an accessible and engaging way.
Contributed to wider public awareness of the relationship between nature, wellbeing, creativity and mental health.
